latest-aws-reinvent

The recently launched 10th edition of the AWS re: Invent was unlike the previously launched AWS Re: Invent, and it was much more than was expected. The event was organized in 2021 in Las Vegas, in which the entire AWS community gathered for hundreds of sessions, a handful of keynotes, and a bit of partying. The entire week was full of energy. After all, it was the first AWS physical launch after the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Amazon.com CTO Werner Vogels, the cloud server is evolving everywhere, and the next destination is space. Fifteen years ago, when AWS was initially launched, it brought a new revolution in the IT world and has continued to push boundaries with every new launch.

If you missed attending the launch virtually or wanted to recap the details of the events once again, here are the most exciting highlights of AWS re: Invent 2021.

1- News in storage, data, and analytics

At the AWS re: Invent 2021 event, the prime focus was on the announcement on data. One thing that popped up, again and again, was that AWS made it even easier to process huge amounts of data while minimizing the work to be done for maintaining infrastructure. The big announcement was that now there are on-demand and serverless versions of all critical services.

2- On-demand and serverless data analytics

Now, there are serverless versions of the Redshift, Elastic Map Reduce, commonly known as EMR, or MSK, also known as Managed Streaming for Kafka. We also have the on-demand versions on the Kinesis Data Stream. They do not offer all the benefits of the serverless, reason being that it is on-demand; therefore, you will need to pay the base cost no matter if you use it or not. However, there is no need to worry about the management of the infrastructure.

3- Amazon custom RDS for the SQL server

Through the Amazon custom RDS for the SQL server, Amazon web services bring more and more SQL server workloads in the cloud. In case any of you have specified requirements that earlier were not fulfilled in RDS, have a look at it as it can easily accommodate several new cases.

4- Announcements about machine learning technology

At the AWS Re: Invent, 2021 event, machine learning technology was the hot topic as experts often discussed it. Mostly it was centered on the AWS working for demystifying machine learning and opening it to a diverse range of audiences. Some of the highlights are –

  • SageMaker Serverless Inference
  • Sagemaker Studio Notebook add EMR support
  • Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth Plus
  • SageMaker Serverless Inference
  • Amazon EC2 Trn1 instances
  • SageMaker canvas
  • SageMaker Studio Lab

5- Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval

In the Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval, there is a new archive storage class that provides easy access to your archived objects in milliseconds. The most important part is that it combines with the Intelligent Tiering for making it seamless for transitioning your objects to the correct storage class.

6- Sustainability and AWS

Sustainability is a crucial factor for most of our Enterprise customers. A well-architected review partner called Stratascale is helping many customers to access their workloads against the AWS best practices. These include Security, Reliability, Operational Excellence, Cost Optimization, and Performance Efficiency. Now, the customers can meet their sustainability goals easily.

7- AWS Private 5g

Several companies have already experienced the deployment of the Wi-Fi infrastructure; however, cellular implementation is a big deal. The AWS Private 5g promotes the present AWS customer for replacing the already-existing Wi-Fi networks with the 5G/cellular-based networks, which are completely handled by the AWS. It allows organizations to experience the power of the 5g services without the need to train their staff for the same.

8- AWS Networking and Instant Delivery

After the AWS Cloud Wide Area Network release, commonly known as WAN, Stratascale’s Enterprise customers are simplifying the building, monitoring, and managing their global networking. It is now easier to centralize enterprise network operations while reducing the complexities involved in managing different networks with diverse needs and connectivity.

Conclusion

For most cloud-first customers, the AWS Re-invest came as a shocker and made them think about it a lot. Although the people attending it have countless opportunities to explore and learn through training and certification workshops, labs, and programs.
